"Gathered in the Word" offers a practice of spiritual refreshment for those pilgrims who thirst for God. Lectio divina is an age old method of praying the Bible that opens scripture in a fresh way.  Those who thirst may drink deeply and find their relationship with God and others renewed.

A small group will be forming in February at FUMC.   If interested in participating, please contact Pastor Luis Benavides: lbenavides1@msn.com  or Karen Cassidy: kdcassidy@msn.com

Lenten Series “40 Days in the Word”
A Rick Warren Study Starting Feb. 21st – March 27th Tuesday evenings.
6:00pm Soups and Breads
6:30pm Video
7:00pm Group Studies
Each week we will be breaking up into the same small groups for study time. The study is an inspiration to learn to Love the Word, Learn the Word, and to Live the Word. As Rick Warren says, “40 Days in the Word is a journey of eternal significance, as you and your church learn how to be not only "hearers"  of the Word, but also "doers" of Gods Word.”

The six Tuesday evenings of fellowship and study will help us to better understand God's Word and especially the weeks of Lent and the Passion story that will be upon us. Sign-up sheet will be posted and there will be a small cost.

Bible Reading Forum
What a great adventure we are embarking on if we have committed to read our Bible through this year! We are starting an email Bible Forum which is nothing more than an email group that shares comments, questions, and thoughts concerning what we are reading. It’s thrilling to open up to new discoveries, make connections and find answers to life’s deepest questions. It’s uplifting and consoling to put God’s Word as a healing balm to our life’s challenges. Come and join us. Send an email to paul@moultonboroumc.org and join our growing email list.

You do not have to read any special readings or be on any special time table but we are offering a reading guide designed by the American Bible Society which will just help you record what you are reading. Ask Pastor Paul for a copy.

Mom’s Night Out!
Beginning this month, we will be having a pot-luck dinner on the second and fourth Monday of every month for Mom’s and their children beginning at 6:30 p.m. It’s a chance for Mom’s to share fellowship and a meal that is especially welcome during these long winter days. Come, bring a dish to share, and enjoy each others company. You may contact Rae Marie Davis if any questions at 253-7862.

Storage Space Needed for Food Pantries Auction: The annual Food Pantries
Auction has been scheduled for 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, May 5, 2012. Auction crew members have already received phone calls from donors and have collected some furniture items. However, before more furniture can be picked up, there is a need for storage space. If you have a garage bay or similar space available for free storage through May 4, please call Kate or Mike Lancor at 476-8409 and leave a message. If we have to rent storage space it cuts significantly into the proceeds.

Facts about Gift/Shopping Cards
I discovered that gift cards are a billion dollar industry with Christmas and Birthdays being the two top occasions for buying cards! It is the single most requested items on gift wish lists according to the National Retailers Federation. We work with United Scrips that give the profits to only non-profit agencies such as MUMC.

Want more information? MUMC sells shopping/gift cards and we receive a donation back for selling them to you. Heath‟s will give us 10% of your purchase. Here‟s how it works. You buy a shopping card for Heath‟s in the amount of … let‟s say $100 (Smaller denominations are available). Heath‟s will then donate $10 to our church! You obtain the full amount; the donation comes from the company – not from you!

Cards are available for Amazon.com, I-Tunes, Game Stop, Dunkin Donut, Wal-Mart, Starbucks and for over 500 national retailers. Local stores like Heath‟s and Hannaford‟s also participate. So are you in? Come see us. Ask your neighbors to join us and they probably will. I will mail cards if needed so even people in other states can participate.

Pre-Paid Grocery and Gift Card Fundraiser
Thank you to all who have participated in our fundraiser. It is now an option for individuals to order directly online with United Scrips and have the purchase automatically withdrawn from their checking account! See the directions below for accessing this feature.

You can support your church by shopping for your groceries. All you have to do is to buy the prepaid shopping cards at church on Sunday (or in the office Monday through Thursday).  You always get 100% value of your card. You can use it for one time shopping or use little at a time. You can continue to use the same card until the entire value is depleted.

Although we have had phenomenal success with this program so far, it still has not reached its full potential. Imagine the profits if everyone bought all their groceries with these cards! The amount of profit on the cards varies depending upon the merchant. Grocery cards vary from 5% to 10% profit. If each family in church buys approximately $150 in groceries per week, then there would be between $7.50 and $15 PER FAMILY added to the church coffers each week just for buying groceries that you will buy anyway! Of course, these results get multiplied by the number of families who participate.

The inventory on hand includes cards from Heath's, Hannaford, Shaw's, Dunkin Donuts, Subway, and Wal-Mart.  Click here for a complete list and order blank of participating retailers.  Print this list out, fill it in and bring it in or mail it with your check to the church at PO Box 188 Moultonborough, NH 03254. People can buy these cards at church on Sunday or from the office during the week. Other cards from a myriad of vendors are available to be ordered. If you order them one week, you receive the cards the following week.
