Ten
members from MUMC just returned from San Felipe, Mexico. Those who
went were Shawn Haskins, Ashley Nickerson, Kate Worthen, Tom Sawyer,
Makayla Sawyer, Bethany Abbott, Tanner Dean, Chelsea Corliss, Joe
Delaney and Jesse Mazzola. While in Mexico, our group worked in
conjunction with seven members of Calvary Bible Church of Meredith.
Our Mission was to do what was needed to help spread the word that
Jesus Christ not only loves each and every one of us but also died
for us so that we can all have eternal life. We did this through
many different work projects as well as time spent presenting VBS and
going out into the community. We had many opportunities to witness
the differences in our cultures but more importantly had the chance
to learn about ourselves and grow in our faith.
The Senior High youth group will continue to meet on Tuesday nights from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Parsonage on Blake Road. We will be starting a new bible study series in hopes of becoming more knowledgeable in His word while also getting a chance to talk about and develop a keener understanding of God’s purpose for each one of us in the time that we are here on Earth.
The Middle School youth group will continue to meet Wednesday nights from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at thechurch. We have several families that provide meals on a rotating basis but we are always looking to add more to this rotation. It’s an excellent opportunity for the youth to see different adults within the church taking an active role in their development as young Christians. You would not only be helping to fill their bellies but also get a chance to witness to them first hand how God is working in your life. The middle school youth will continue to learn through the Interlinc curriculum units that focus on issues such as loneliness, relationships, spiritual warfare, difficulties, friendship and much much more. These units are taught through music, activities and discussions always using a hint of the bible to tie it all together.
Our next BIG event is scheduled for Friday evening, May 2nd through Saturday, May 3rd at the church. This event is presented by World Vision and will be a 30-hour famine. All proceeds raised will be sent to world vision to help feed children who might not get a meal every day. The youth will be spending the night at the church with activities and discussions focused on areas of the world where hunger and starvation is definitely an issue. If you feel at all called to donate to the cause, grab a youth group member or myself and make all checks payable to World Vision. Thanks again for supporting us in all that we do.
